Hearth AI — Support

On-device AI chat powered by llama.cpp. Browse, download, and run GGUF models locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac — fully private, no server required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What models can I use?

Hearth AI supports GGUF-format models from Hugging Face Hub. You can browse and download models directly from within the app. Model compatibility depends on your device's available RAM — the app will indicate which models are suitable for your device.

Does the app require an internet connection?

An internet connection is only needed to browse and download models from Hugging Face Hub. Once a model is downloaded, all inference runs entirely on-device with no network connection required.

Is my data private?

Yes. All conversations, documents, and memories stay on your device. No data is sent to any external server for AI processing. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Which devices are supported?

Hearth AI runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. It requires iOS 17.0, macOS 14.0, or visionOS 1.0 or later. Models run using Metal GPU acceleration for best performance.

Why is a model running slowly?

Performance depends on the model size and your device's hardware. Smaller quantized models (e.g., Q4_K_M) run faster and use less memory. If your device overheats, the app will automatically throttle inference to protect your hardware.

How do I delete a downloaded model?

Go to the Library tab, swipe left on the model you want to remove, and tap Delete. The model file will be removed from your device's local storage.

What is Document Q&A?

You can import documents into a conversation and ask questions about their content. The app splits documents into chunks and uses relevance scoring to find the most relevant passages for your questions — all processed on-device.

What is Conversation Memory?

Hearth AI can remember key information across conversations using an on-device personal knowledge base. Memories are scored for relevance and automatically included when helpful. You can view, export, and manage your memories at any time.
